Palette
Somewhere to squeeze out your
paints and mix your colours. The
traditional palette shape is designed
so you can hold it comfortably while
standing at an easel. However, any
flat non-absorbent surface will do the
job. Watercolour palettes have little
wells in them to hold the paint.
These are not suitable for oil
painting. Disposable palettes are fine,
though most are too small for my
liking. In any case, cleaning the paint
from a flat a non-absorbent surface is
not a particularly onerous task.
